Saned's initiatives in 2022 contribute to sustainability of Sharjah projects by saving energy in buildings and instituting green projects

Eng. Sultan Musabah Al Ketbi, CEO of Saned Integrated Facilities Management Company, owned by Sharjah Asset Management - the investment arm of the Government of Sharjah, revealed that the level of wastewater treatment at the real estate sector in Sharjah Asset Management Holding Company's sewage treatment plant reached 182,500,000 litres per year at an estimated cost of AED 1.8 million. The wastewater treatment plant is strategically located in Souq Al Haraj.

Al Ketbi explained that the water treatment plant initiative is among one of the green initiatives offered by Saned to its clients through integrated expertise and technologies that aid in achieving sustainability of buildings as well as support international standards for green buildings.

Since the inauguration of the sewage treatment plant in 2016, and in strategic partnership with the management of Souq Al Haraj, Saned has successfully saved more than 2.2 billion litres of water, equivalent to AED 12.6 million, which has been diverted to use for agricultural, irrigation and construction purposes. Saned now seeks to increase the capacity of the plant by 250%.

"Saned Integrated Facilities Management works in accordance with the highest international standards set in the industry. We continue to keep our facilities up-to-date with the newest modern technologies and methods that help contribute to saving and managing energy to reduce overall waste. We have supervised and overseen facilities management in Souq Al Jubail since 2015, and have since been keen to strategically manage energy usage and expenditure for the market through multiple operational procedures and the use of modern technologies, such as maintaining air conditioners periodically which contributes to a reduction in energy consumption within its natural limits and increases life expectancy for air conditioning systems. We also promote the use of energy-saving metal and sodium halide lamps.” says Al Ketbi.

Al Ketbi highlighted that the modern building management system connects all buildings with electronic devices to manage and monitor equipment with ease. All equipment, such as fresh air handling units, HVAC systems, pumps, and the chiller management system is conveniently synced to the system to monitor and fluctuate internal temperatures of the area. Cold water control is also achieved through this system, which also contributes to low energy consumption. Saned has additionally installed electronic receivers linked to the outside of buildings, monitoring external weather patterns to help with frequency control to adjust internal power and reduce consumption.

Al Ketbi concluded that the application of these standards and the use of these technologies for facilities management in Souq Al Jubail has substantially contributed to saving more than 10% on energy consumption bills per month. Saned is now working diligently to reach 20% energy savings, which represents a 200% increase over current savings.

Saned works on integrated facilities management, public and private facilities care services, technical project management in construction, and areas related to health, safety and the environment. Strategies involving fire prevention, environmental health and safety inspection and training, and security systems integration are routinely utilised to maximise efficiency of systems and aid with reductions in energy consumption.
